Delaying instant gratification is one of the hardest challenges that our modern day human faces.

With the constant appeal of quick serotonin boosters like sweets, fatty foods, sex, Instagram likes, and sleep, it is not surprising that these have become some of the most overlooked forms of addiction. They are common habitual activities and needs turned compulsive. They are instant gratifiers that can please your current state of being.

However, if you want to accomplish great and complex things within any domain, you will need to learn how to delay this lure of gratification.

So as this out of context quote I have hiding in my notes says:

Here’s an upper bound: Do what you love doesn’t mean, do what you would like to do most this second. Even Einstein probably had moments when he wanted to have a cup of coffee, but told himself he ought to finish what he was working on first.

Pull yourself out of those addictive habits, and start finishing what you love.
