I bought a pack of 12 for my family
They were fancier than normal
chocolate dipped on one side
with sprinkles on top
I was excited to give them away
Over the span of the next 5 days
I slowly gave them out
one by one
four went to my two brothers
and their wives
and four went to my sisters
and their boyfriends
That left me with another 4
I decided to hold on to these
up until the day I was flying out
I wanted to open them with my 2 other siblings
However one was in a rush
as his flight was an hour before mine
and so we quickly opened his
the other decided to eat dinner with her friends
so she wasn’t there
that left me and my parents
I asked if either of them would want the remaining two
they both said no as they don’t eat sweets
now it was finally coming time
for me to head to the airport
in that midst of talking to my parents
and eating their home cooked food
I took a quick glance at the box
a reminder that I still haven’t opened mine
and in that split second
I decided to not open one
whether this was intentional or not
I’m now sitting at the airport gate
waiting to board
and I’m taking it as a sign
for me to take control of my future
